24 weeks!

This weekend marks the 24th week of the pregnancy! I cannot believe how fast every week is going. Since finding out we are having a boy we have been busy registering for all our baby items and of course discussing names. We registered at Babies R' Us... what an experience! We both felt very overwhelmed with all the choices and I'm just happy I can edit it online! Between what car seats to choose and which breast pump is best I'm sure I'll be doing a lot of research before the baby arrives. Besides our "to do" list growing, so is my belly! Check out my recent belly pics. I definitely can't hide that I'm pregnant and other people are starting to notice as well.
At this point in the pregnancy...
I'm glad people don't look at me and wonder if I'm pregnant or just had a big meal.
I'm excited about picking out baby items for our little man.
I can't wait to find a name that Butch and I both love.
I'm looking forward to our upcoming baby showers! I'm truly blessed to have such amazing friends and family!

It's a boy!!

First of all, Happy Thanksgiving! We hope you all had a wonderful holiday and enjoyed some time with your families.
Butch and I finally got to see how our baby is doing this past Monday. We had our 20 week ultrasound and found out we are having a boy! Our ultrasound tech was very knowledgeable and was happy to explain everything to us. I think she understood my interest in seeing everything once I explained what I do for a living! Our baby looks perfectly normal and he was kicking quite a bit which was fun to see. He weighs 11 ounces right now and is in the butt down position. As you can tell in the ultrasound pics, he was not being shy!
I'm happy to report that my "morning" sickness has finally passed. It only took 17 weeks! I am feeling much better but still haven't had any huge cravings. With all the holiday meals ahead I'm sure I'll find something to indulge in!!
Butch is happy that I'm spending less time in the bathroom and he can start to see my belly growing. He has felt a few small kicks and is having fun coming up with boy names.
Our next doctor's visit will be after Christmas. We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season! We feel so blessed to have the support of our family and friends, especially this time of year.

16 weeks!

Each day we get a little closer to meeting our little peanut. Today we had our sixteen week check-up. It's always reassuring to hear the heartbeat and have a medical professional tell you that things are going smoothly. Our appointment was with our nurse practitioner, Tara. She did a great job explaining everything and showed true sympathy to my never ending "morning" sickness. She encouraged me that I might feel better soon or hopefully by week 20, but that it could last the whole time. I'm currently taking zofran and tried phenergan, but that just made me sicker. I'll spare the details and just say that some days are better than others and I'm happy for the good days!
The baby's heartbeat was 140, which is perfect. We also heard a little movement in there on the Doppler, although I haven't felt anything yet.
In the past month the most frequently asked questions have been, Have you had any cravings? Are you going to find out what you're having? and surprisingly, Are you excited? Well, not really (although a McDonald's cheeseburger sounded good on Saturday),yes and absolutely!!
Our next appointment is November 23rd so we'll be able to tell everyone what we're having right before Thanksgiving. We truly have so much to be thankful for this year and continually feel blessed each day our baby is growing and healthy.

Second doctor visit!

We had our second visit on Thursday, September 24th. We heard the heartbeat again with an external doppler and everything sounds great! The heart rate was in the 170s and the baby was actually moving a little. We found out that Butch needs to find out his blood type since I have a negative blood type. He is not looking forward to having blood drawn, but knows it's for a good cause! My doctor was kind enough to give me a prescription for zofran since I have been so sick and actually lost weight during the first trimester. I'm starting to feel a little better, but I'm definitely looking forward to when the nausea is gone. I'm sure I'll make up for the weight loss in the coming months! ha! Thank you all for keeping us in your prayers during our first trimester. The words of encouragement have been much appreciated.
In the next trimester I am looking forward to... not being so tired, buying new clothes, actually looking pregnant and not just a little chubby, and no more nausea!
Here's a picture of me at 12 weeks and Butch at 12 weeks. We'll see how long it takes to catch up to him!

Baby's first picture

We had our first OB visit last Thursday, August 27th. Butch and I got to see an ultrasound of our little peanut and even hear the heartbeat. Right now he/she looks like a little fuzzball, but we were thrilled to finally put aside some anxiety by actually seeing what has been making me so nauseous and tired! Our next appointment will be in a month. We are so eager to see all the changes to come!

Positive Test!

Hi all!! This is my first attempt at becoming a computer savvy blogger so bear with me. Butch and I have decided to start this blog because we have so many friends and family that live far away from us and want to keep everyone as up to date as possible as we go through this process of becoming parents for the first time.
Here is a little recap of our lives thus far. Butch and I were married on October 14, 2006 here in Columbus, OH. We had two Shar Peis, Chubbei and Tucker that we adore. In May of 2008 we both decided we were ready to be parents. We became pregnant quickly, but unfortunately had a miscarriage at eight weeks. Going through such a sad process really brought our family together and we were able to start trying again in November of 2008. After almost a year of heartache and frustration we are happy to announce that we are expecting!
We had a positive pregnancy test on August 2nd and another positive on August 3rd since Butch insisted we do a second one just to be sure! So far everything is going well and we are so blessed to have such a supportive family. We will have our first OB visit at the end of August so more info to come!
